In the mood for a brainless Step It Up and Dance review written by someone who dislikes dance? Entertainment Weekly’s Dalton Ross is your man. He’s irritated by the glut of reality dance shows, but in the same way that a person who detests basketball is irritated by playoffs hype [ed: Go Celtics!]. Hey, NY1: don’t assign the SIUAD review to the guy who says, “Personally, I don’t really care about watching other people dance unless they go by the name of Turbo or Ozone and are involved in an electric bugaboo.” Come on: “electric bugaboo?” He means electric boogaloo, right? By the end of the piece, Ross has worked himself into a grumpy old man lather: “These people look silly trying to ‘freestyle’ with their check-me-out moves.” These kids with their rock and roll music and their crazy pants! Bah!

We’ve learned from io9 that Merlin Robotics (“creators of robots for people”) has invented a ballet-dancing robot. We’re skeptical. It has no arms, for one thing, which makes port de bras tricky. And that’s to say nothing of its pas de chat capabilities.
