Barring an O. Henry-caliber twist, Cody will be safe this week. We can all agree on that, right?
Narrowing it down, then, to Mochi, Janelle, Nick, and Miguel: who will go home? Those in the mood for speculating can check out previews here and here.) The excellent contributers to the TelevisionWithoutPity boards have a few theories. Two particularly convincing ones:
1. Nick goes home. Sir Didymus thinks it will come down to him and Janelle, and says Bravo already spilled the beans about which one triumphs: “I could have sworn that I caught a glimpse of [Janelle] in the music video challenge (next weeks) in one of the previews for the whole season.”
2. No one gets the ax. Fribbles points out that exotic dancer Nicole’s early exit screwed up the numbers. Plus, Jerry’s blog entry this week concludes with the teaser, “5 will soon be 4, or will they????” That’s a sinister number of question marks.
Convincing as these are, we’re going out on a fragile, dry limb here and predicting that Miguel will get the boot tonight. We think his technique is drastically overrated in general. And in this challenge in particular, his refusal to partner with Mochi (to say nothing of his “smirking at me isn’t helping!” flip-out) dooms him. Salsa is a dance for couples. The skeleton of the movement is the tension between one person going backward and the other person going forward, and the simultaneous change in direction. And yeah, okay, as Miguel points out, he’s Mexican, and this is a Latin dance challenge. But the Mexicans we know well (chilangos, admittedly) say salsa isn’t ingrained in them from the cradle, the way it is in, say, Cubans. So we’re not buying Miguel’s salsa-is-in-my-blood routine.
